About This Place

Located at 2247 S Cooper St in Arlington, TX, Taqueria Maria Bonita is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Mexican street food in a warm, inviting setting. Specializing in classic Mexican dishes, this beloved taqueria offers a menu bursting with traditional flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Mexico.

The culinary stars here are undoubtedly the street tacos, celebrated for their tender, expertly seasoned meats such as Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Bistec. Each taco arrives wrapped in freshly made tortillas and is accompanied by a vibrant array of salsas that provide the perfect balance of heat and zest. If you’re looking to indulge deeper into authentic tastes, the Gringas de Lengua o Tripa and the Quesadilla de Carnitas showcase the kitchen’s dedication to traditional recipes.

Beyond the tacos, don't miss unique offerings like the savory Torta Cubana, the hearty Menudo (famous here as the “Breakfast of Champions”), and the enticing Pambazos. For a comforting experience, the Orden de Cebolla Asada—grilled onions—adds a smoky sweetness that beautifully complements the rich meats. Beverage options such as Sangria and the crisp Topo Chico round out the meal perfectly.

The atmosphere at Taqueria Maria Bonita is casual and family-friendly, giving you the feel of an authentic local taqueria rather than a flashy restaurant. It’s a place where the focus remains on quality food and genuine service, something that longtime patrons like Dan White admire for its authentic taste and reasonable prices. Customer feedback highlights the consistently excellent service, especially the welcoming hospitality from staff members like Mr. Simon, who elevates the dining experience, as noted by Doc Padilla.

Whether you're a dedicated taco aficionado or seeking to explore the rich, diverse flavors of Mexican street cuisine, Taqueria Maria Bonita offers a memorable culinary journey. From the freshly handmade tortillas to the depth of flavor in their menudo and tamales, each bite tells a story of tradition, passion, and culinary craftsmanship. As one satisfied customer put it, this isn’t just “gringo Tex-Mex”—it’s authentically Mexican, lovingly prepared and served with pride.

In short, if you want to experience some of the best tacos and traditional Mexican fare in Arlington — all in a friendly, unpretentious setting — Taqueria Maria Bonita is a must-visit destination.

Excellent, authentic Mexican street tacos!!! You cannot go wrong with the tacos and quesadillas, they are superb. Plenty of authentic meat options. Not fancy, but great service and very reasonable prices for very authentic tacos, not the typical gringo Tex Mex. Aprovecha!!!

Delicious taqueria located off of South Cooper close to Pioneer Parkway in Arlington, Texas! Taqueria Maria Bonita serves delicious tacos and has a family-friendly environment, but be mindful of the wait time if you order to-go. Food: The food is delicious - some of the best tacos in town. I ordered six tacos in total with everything on them, and they came with three different salsas. Overall, no complaints and would come back just for the tacos alone! Next time, I want to try other dishes. Service: I will admit the service was slow when I came. I ordered these six tacos to go, and had to wait close to 25 minutes. Now I understand if it's just the amount of time it takes to make the order, but there were a couple people who ordered after me and dined in and were served before me. Just something to note when you order takeout. The staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere: Family-friendly environment with plenty of seating inside. Tables were clean and ready to be sat at.

Got the chicken quesadilla- the tortilla is freshly made which is a bonus! Got two cabeza tacos and I preferred that option over the suadero Not pictured, they have tamales on a Monday was a bit skeptical but ordered anyways Needless to say, the tamal de raja was sooooooo good!

Street tacos are definitely the way to go for me and Taqueria Maria definitely does them right. From the outside this place doesn’t look like much but boy is this food good! I ordered a few tacos (al pastor, carnitas and bistec) normally al pastor is my favorite but here I definitely prefer the carnitas. I also had a grilled Gordita with carnitas (my favorite dish I ordered) which was deliciously cheesy and maybe a little salty but sooo good. I also tried the fried bistec quesadilla which was also good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I prefer my tortilla to be more on the soft side and mine weren’t as soft as I’d like. It could’ve been because I went in about an hour before close or maybe they just make them like that. Either way, still good! And the young lady that worked there was so sweet and offered great recommendations.

The salsa was spicy. The service was great. My hamburger was so big I had to cut it up to eat it. Good place for lunch.
